An awesome one here to prank. There's nearly always a queue of local taxis waiting her for a job. Calling the number makes the box at the rank ring. The driver of the first taxi will spring to get out and answer it.

Payphone by the Hoffbrauhaus Munich (München), Germany

As is usual with German payphone, this also hasn't a dialable phone number.

It however stands next to a very important beer house.

Two sweet payphones standing directly next to the seated waiting around at Gate 15, and they're also opposite the public toilets here. You'll get noticed as the area is pretty quite with people just bored of waiting for their flight. Flights from here can be leaving for any part of the world but they do tend to be Lufthansa (the national airliner here).

Took these a shot of these two airport payphones just before I made way through security (positioned directly opposite these payphones). I was surprised that I weren't called up and told off for taking pictures in
such a secure area. Two police officers even saw me and said nothing. You can see them behind a pillar in my panoramic shot here. Busyish area, alot of people passing by coming from and going to the public toilets that are off to the right of these payphones.

Typical German Payphones

I took this series of shots from the same payphone bank. These are position in the subway directly in front of Munich's central Station. There do still see a fair amount of use, which is good to know. Unfortunately I didn't get their telephone numbers. But it does give you a chance to see the fairly new interactive payphones that are popping up all over Germany.

The telephone number here is for the payphone to the right. They are positioned directly on platform 26, one of Munich's Central Station#s main platforms. You can get someone's attend almost 24 hrs. and day here.

Beautiful public payphone here. It stands opposite this Vinzenzmurr Butchers. Vinzenzmurr typically sells processed and fresh meat. But they now sell coffee and snacks hence the tables and chairs outside. Over Summer these place will heave with people stopping here for a byte to eat or a quick coffee. This payphone is open so it'll give you a good chance of an answer. Good luck and ask them how their Bratwurst tastes (Typical Sausage here).

Typical street payphone here in the heart of Munich. Off to the right in the background you can see the central train station and during the evenings this pavement (side-walk) gets really very busy. Give it a call around then as it does ring with a fair volume.

Not actually a payphone I know. But it is callable and stands in the street. You'll also see that this post contains an old picture of the exact some Taxi Rank. The picture had been recovered from the old "payphone net" site. Is very interesting, as the Taxi Stand has been replaced and you can see the old as well as the new one here. When calling this stand, all kinds of lights start flashing, and you'll get some eager taxi driver running to answer the call in the hope of a good job. Have fun.

German Payphone (Telefonzelle) Information Cards

Just a little something for those interested. Here are two pictures of two differently formatted payphone information cards. You'll see either of these in all official T-Mobile payphones across Germany.

Nice addition here. Taken on the platform in the middle of the station. In the background you can see Germany's superb ICE Inter City Express train. The number, despite being listed is not callable.

In the summertime this area is heaving! Again I am sorry to say, incoming calls have been bared to this payphone as is with all German payphones on the site to date. Never the less you can see a relatively new style of German payphones. Gone are the payphones enclosures and in with the modern open-air designs.

This Telephonezelle (German for Phone box) is in a bit of a sorry state. Not getting much use at all. In fact the typical postbox positioned next to it, gets a lot more use. Again, incoming calls to this one has been bared.

Nice shot of a platform side payphone at the very efficient Munich underground. This station is positioned in the Northwest of the city and of course gets very busy during the rush-hours.

The real bad news is that, the majority of payphones run by T-Mobile do not accept incoming calls! If you were to call the listed number you only get a recording from a serious German lady saying, "due to technical reasons the call can't be connected".
